ARTICLE XII - DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE OFFICERS, OFFICERS, GROUP REPRESENTATIVES AND STEWARDS

Section 2 - Duties of the President

  1. The President shall preside at meetings of the Local and at meetings of the Executive Board and shall be responsible for the conduct of the Local including:
    1. The President shall have the authority to carry out the policies of the Communications Workers of America and the Local in accordance with the Constitution and these Bylaws and the mandates of the Executive Board and/or membership.
    2. The prosecution of grievances, and appealing them to a higher level of the Communications Workers of America if not satisfactorily settled.
    3. The supervision of all committees of the Local.
    4. The approval of all bills to be paid by the Local Secretary-Treasurer.
    5. The President shall:
      1. Be the official spokesperson of the Local in all of its external relations and may authorize one or more representatives of the Local to speak for the Local in his/her place and stead.
      2. Hold no other office in the Local.
  2. The Local President shall have such additional duties as assigned by the Local, or required by the Constitution or Policies of the Communications Workers of America.
  3. The Local President shall appoint an Executive Officer to perform local duties in his/ her absence.

Section 3 - Duties of the Secretary-Treasurer

  1. The Secretary-Treasurer shall maintain a record of the Local membership and shall keep minutes of all Local meetings and meetings of the Local Executive Board.
  2. Furnish both the District Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer of the Communications Workers of America with two (2) copies of any changes in the Local Bylaws within ten (10) days after such changes are made.
  3. Be responsible for furnishing the Secretary-Treasurer of the Communications Workers of America with all the proper forms signed by the Local Officers which are required by State and Federal laws immediately upon their execution.
  4. The Secretary-Treasurer shall be bonded and shall be custodian of all assets of the Local and shall make a report at each membership meeting.
  5. He/She shall cause the payment of all bills as approved by the President when vouchers are properly filled out in accordance with these Bylaws.
  6. The Secretary-Treasurer must maintain copies of the collective bargaining contracts which directly affect the Local's members, and make these copies available for inspection by any member or any employee whose rights are affected by these Agreements.
  7. He/She will perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Local President, the Executive Board or the Local membership.
  8. Attend Executive Board and membership meetings.

Section 4 - Duties of the Vice President

  1. The Vice President shall work under the direction of the President and shall perform such duties as assigned by the President, Executive Board and/or the membership.
  2. Act as a direct representative of the membership.
  3. Be responsible for the proper processing of grievances.
  4. Work with Group Representatives and Stewards.
  5. The Vice President shall be required to participate in and carry out all Communications Workers of America programs adopted by the Executive Board and/or the membership.
  6. Be responsible for calling the Local office on a daily basis.
  7. Shall convene a stewards meeting as necessary, or as directed by the Executive Board.
  8. Attend Executive Board and membership meetings.

Section 5 - Duties of Group Representatives

  1. Group Representatives shall work under the direction of the President and Vice President and shall perform such duties as assigned by the Executive Board, and will work under the direction of the President and Vice President.
  2. Process grievances.
  3. Police the contract.
  4. Work with Stewards.
  5. Participate in Union activities.
  6. Attend Execuitve Board and membership meetings.
